The benefits of T5 over T8 or T12 lamps

The T5 lamps are smaller in diameter and length than conventional T12 or T8 lamps, thus the adapter is necessary to fit the lamps into the larger fittings.  The T5 lamps obviously contain less glass and mercury and are thus less damaging to the environment than the larger lamps.

With three times the life (20,000 hours compared to 8,000 hours), better colour rendering, improved lumen per watt ratio and inreased efficiency, the T5 lamps have a clear advantage over both T8 and T12 lamps.
